Greetings From Chris

"Have I Graduated?"

We caterer lots of open houses, have lots of graduates of friends we know and even have a couple nephews graduating with one's open house at our home, so it is easy to see why I am thinking about graduating.

It is amazing to me to think back to when I graduated...I can't believe how stupid I was back then. Well, since we don't say that word around here a better term would be ignorant.

Life and years have a grand way of teaching us many things. I remember I couldn't wait to get out of school! Isn't that funny. Little did I know then how simple school was and how challenging at times the real world can be.

I am so grateful for every life lesson that God has taught me as I have walked this journey with him. It makes me step back and wonder if I have learned enough to graduate?

Paul, in one of his letters and also in the book of Hebrews, we read about still having to drink milk like infants and having not graduated to eating real food. Is that me? Do I still act and behave like a little child? Am I the type of person that only thinks about myself? Are my concerns and worries about things that only affect me? Am I stuck in my elementary teachings and in my junior high behavior or have I graduated in the truth?

Hebrews 2:12-14 says, "In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil." Have I allowed God's teacher, Jesus, through his Holy Spirit to teach me all things and to continue to remind me through Godly Wisdom in his Word how to be Christ like and mature in all I do?

Graduates seem to all have a theme to take them forward. It seems that over the course of my life, the secret to graduating in Christ rests in the simple verse of Galatians 2:20, "I have been crucified in Christ. It is no longer I that live, but Jesus who lives in me. The Life I live in this body I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me."

Happy Graduation!
