I just wanted to pass along to you an opportunity for givng relief to the people of Haiti.  I have moved over the past several years to a more personal involvement/participation in my giving.  I seemed so detached when I just give money and I never really know if it is used for what is said.  I hope that doesn't sound un-trusting.  Well if you are looking for another avenue to help the people of Haiti that is a practical gift then read on.

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) is taking on a Multi-year response to the earthquake in Haiti.  The first step is a request for 20,000 relief kits, 10,000 heavy comforters and 10,000 sheets for shipment now through February 28.  The relief kit would include the following:

- 4 large bars bath soap (leave in wrapping)

- 1 plastic bottle shampoo (13-24 oz), place bottle in resealable plastic baggie

- 4 large bars laundry soap (Fels Naptha, Sunlight, Zote)

- 1 squeeze tube toothpaste (minimum 6 oz. leave in box)

- 4 adult size toothbrushes (leave in packaging)

- 4 new bath towels (medium weight, dark or bright colors)

- 2 wide-tooth combs (6-8 in)

- 1 fingernail clipper

- 1 package sanitary pads (18-24 thin max.)

You can place the kit contents in a box or bag and drop them off at Birky's Market before February 21.  Comforters and sheets are welcome as well.  We are collecting them at our church and hand delivering them to MCC's warehouse in Goshen.
