I just wanted to pass along to you an opportunity for givng relief to the people of Haiti. I have moved over the past several years to a more personal involvement/participation in my giving. I seemed so detached when I just give money and I never really know if it is used for what is said. I hope that doesn't sound un-trusting. Well if you are looking for another avenue to help the people of Haiti that is a practical gift then read on.

This is a question that I am asked quite often, so I thought it would be nice to address it. Below are listed reasons that our pork is "what I feed my family." |

Friends, I have had a couple people ask, so I thought there may be others that would like to know. Birky Family Farms uses the kitchen at Birky's Catering in Kouts, Indiana as our commissary. It is there that we do baking and preparing of items for the store and for our own catering. Just thought you might like to know. Chris |

Greetings! You may have noticed at all of our cooking events that you never were "charged" sales tax. This is because we "ate" it. The Indiana Department of Revenue does not like us doing it that way. They are not mandating that we make a change, but are strongly encouraging that we "add" sales tax on top of the purchase, rather than include it in the amount. Unfortunately, we feel urged to comply. We will continue to "eat" the sales tax at the fair, but our Thursday evening carry outs, Friday lunches and Saturday lunches we will be adding sales tax. We technically didn't raise our prices, but with this change we did. It is probably good that we allow you to share this burden with us, but we are sorry and regret having to do so. We truly hope you understand and that this will not prevent you from coming and enjoying great food and friendship with us. If you spend $20 on food your increased cost would be $1.40, which is the 7% sales tax for Indiana. We appologize for this inconvenience. Thanks for understanding, Chris Birky |

I am not a science guy, so I really can't tell you. It is not a steroid. It is not a hormone. It is an feed additive that enhances lean muscle gain in pigs. It really works. It is amazing the almost explosive, freakish effect it has on pig muscle and rate of gain. These are two areas that are of great financial gain and would interest any livestock producer in order to increase profitablilty. Here is a link to the Elanco (R) website that talks about Paylean (R) and also has a pdf of the label of the product which will better inform you and I think you would find very interesting. |
